Obtaining and applying for certificates; Why certificates are necessary ?

It is only mandatory in the natural process of oneís life that at one point in time one must procure important official certificates for the sake of authentication of oneís identity. And this happens at some of the most important milestones in the course of our lives. The first is when we are born, when we are identified as belonging to a particular community or tribe, when we are betrothed to another, and when we die. These are all important to certify that our identity is for real and it makes a lot of other things in life a whole lot easier. It could, however, be an irksome task to procure these documents, but of late, the government of India has made it a lot easier for us to apply for them and obtain them.

Let us begin with the birth certificate. This is one of the utmost important documents which certify that we were born on a certain date to the people who are mentioned in the certificate. Also, they specify the time that we were born and also the place where we were born. To apply for birth certificate one can go to the municipal corporation of that particular place, seven days within the birth of the child and pay a fee of about 7 rupees and the certificate will be issued from the zonal offices in Delhi. This will also ensure that the registration of the infant has been done. The same is the case for the death certificate in Delhi except the fees is 2 rupees per copy of the death certificate. One could also visit the Sub-Divisional Magistrate between 9:30 am and 6:00 pm in order to arrange for these two certificates, on any working day.

Caste certificates and tribe certificates are mainly done for reservation purposes. These certificates make it easier for people to get admissions into schools, colleges, universities, jobs, etc. One needs to go to the office of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate in Delhi between 9:30 am and 1:00 pm and fill up the application form. One needs to take birth certificate, marriage certificate, if applicable, the SC/ST certificates of family members if any, and a valid proof of address. Normally, one would get a response from the office within the following three weeks whether the application has been accepted or not. This is one of the most important certificates in a country like India where a lot of the activities revolves around caste and tribe identity.

Marriage certificate in Delhi certifies that one is legally married to another and that all of their further dealings can be made together or separately with each otherís approval. To obtain a marriage certificate, one must go to the Sub-Divisional Magistrate who will issue the certificate accordingly under the special Marriage Act of 1954. This is for everyone other than the Muslims who have a separate code for marriage. The Domicile certificate in Delhi is also issued by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Delhi and it certifies that one belongs to Delhi.
